When a family business is under stress through infighting the impact can be sharply felt by directors, shareholders, employees and even those external to the company, including suppliers and customers. The panel discuss the challenges family business face when impacted by divorce or incapacity of key members of the family, or through inadequacies in the businesses structure, constitution and planning which does not incentivise nor support harmony amongst family members. Drawing on experience from years in practice and from a number of legal disciplines the panel deliberate what can be done to minimise conflict within the family business (prevention always being better than cure) and ensure the business is better prepared for the future.
