We’ve been looking after our customers’ financial security since we were founded in 1836 as a life insurer. We’re one of Britain’s biggest financial groups, managing over £1 trillion of peoples’ assets at 30 June 2019. We’re also a major global investor, expanding into the US, Europe, Middle East and Asia.

As well as offering life insurance and savings plans, we’re the UK’s market leader in everything to do with pensions. We work closely with corporate pension schemes, help younger people save for retirement and as soon as they’ve retired we help them manage their finances and their wellbeing in later life. We strongly believe that businesses should act responsibly and invest money in an inclusive way. That’s why we’ve put over £22 billion in direct investments such as new homes, urban regeneration, clean energy and small businesses.
