About BusinessTV

We are the UK’s only dedicated platform connecting Medium Sized Businesses (Mid Market) with the professional advice they need to improve their operational efficiency, governance, compliance and their strategies for growth and on-going success.

Due to its unique focus, BusinessTV makes it easy for Business Owners and their departmental directors to find engaging and informative content and, in turn, enables content created by the Professional Services community to reach this dynamic community.

The platform serves as an informative and cohesive destination for Business Owners and Advisers ultimately helping to improve the flow and engagement of professional expertise to drive business performance.

While our primary focus is to connect Mid Market businesses with Professional Advisers the broad range of content found on BusinessTV is appropriate for businesses of all sizes

About the Mid Market and their Net Zero Challenge

Not to be confused with SMEs, (the very term ‘sme’ having become a bye-word for very small companies only), Mid Market companies are classified as having turnovers of between £10-80 million. There are approximately 60,000 Mid Market companies in the UK.

The Mid Market it is arguably the most exciting and dynamic sector of the economy. Mid Market companies account for a third of all private sector GDP and jobs and they continually punch above their weight in terms innovation, creativity, viability and resilience, frequently outperforming both smaller companies and multi-nationals.

While having much in common with larger companies, Mid Market companies typically retain a uniquely simple management structure, with 80% being owner directed and key decisions taken between only a handful of hands-on stakeholders. These flat management structures deliver many notable advantages, not least of all the ability to make speedy decisions, in-turn resulting in reduced times to market and increased agility in the face of changing circumstances: qualities that are more important now than ever before.

Of all the sectors that comprise the UK’s varied business landscape Net Zero will prove the most challenging for the Mid Market community. Micro businesses will get swept along with the inevitable progress made by the general market place and large PLCs have the resources in both personnel and finances to implement and oversee enterprise wide strategies.

Mid Market companies have neither luxury; they must shoulder their responsibilities in line with larger firms but will have to do so with a keen eye on costs, interruption, progress and measurable benefits.

Mid Market companies will need professional advice and expert solutions in order to embrace their mission to Net Zero and to ensure they are able to harness the commercial advantages that will come with adoption and compliance.

Mid Market companies must grasp Net Zero as an opportunity to stand out among their competition by positioning themselves as,

  • Valuable and compliant businesses in their own customers’ supply chains

  • Environmentally responsible employers who may continue to appeal to the best talent

  • Future proofed businesses that represent an attractive option for investment and acquisition

BusinessTV is proud to be partnering with the UK’s leading organisations offering stewardship across the Net Zero agenda such as the Carbon Trust, CBI, Climate Change Committee, Energy Saving Trust, IOD, Renewable UK, Ofgem and the Department for Business Energy & Industrial Strategy (BIES).
