As of 6 April 2025 a new law came into effect giving eligible parents the right to take up to 12 weeks paid leave to care for babies who are admitted into neonatal care.
Eligibility for neonatal care leave is not dependent an employee’s length of service with an employer.
As a result, there will be practical implications for employers and new policies to be put in place. This new statutory right is expected to benefit around 60,000 new parents.
